Media: Demographics and Psychographics

1)  What information do media companies use to create a demographic profile of their audience? The audience's age, gender, education and income. 2) Why are med ia companies and advertisers increasingly using audience profiling and not just demographics? It can benefit them as it can help you unlock new insights on your target audience and allows your business to grow when you focus on groups that are most likely to buy from you. 3) What psychographic group or groups do YOU belong in? Think about your own interests and lifestyle and explain your decision. Remember, you may fit into two or three different groups!  I believe that I am a explorer and mainstreamer.

(1: Pick three aspects of camera movement in the Minority Report clip. Identify the type of camera movement and write about why the director chose to use that camera movement in the scene and what effect it has on the audience)   At 0:58 , the camera intentionally shakes to create a sense of chaos and disorientation. This technique makes the audience feel like they are right in the middle of the action by sharing the tension and adrenaline, which can make the chase more intense. The ariel shot at 1:46 , often taken from helicopters or drones, are used to provide a bird's-eye view of the chase. This type of camera movement gives the audience a broader perspective of the chase. At 2:21 , the camera shakes are more noticeable as the height increases, which undoubtedly indicates to the audience that a fall from here can be lethal (2: Pick two aspects of editing in the Minority Report clip and write about what effect it has on the audience) The pace of editing at the start of the scen

Media: Stranger Things (Mise-en-scene: Analysis)

Media:  Stranger Things  Costume: The character at the start is wearing a white lab coat. This suggests to the audience that he is a scientist of some sort. The kids are wearing simple clothes which reflect on their young and innocence if that makes any sense. Lighting: The lighting is dark and mysterious during Will's encounter with the Demogorgon because you can't see him, only the silhouette. It's also designed to create a nostalgic look as the series is set in the 1980s and makes good suspenseful moments. The show effectively creates a sense of tension as scenes are often moody, this can make the audience constantly feel on edge. Setting: At the Wheeler's house, you can see that they are decently wealthy for their time (1980s) and the kids are playing Dungeons & Dragons in a comfortable basement. The audience would feel nostalgic as they view this scene even if they weren't alive to be part of the 80s, it has a feeling that you can't describe.  Props: Th

1)  Three camera shots: At 45 seconds (0:45,) there's a close up shot which implies that what she's about to say is important and serious or one of the two. 2 minutes and 55 seconds (2:55) We see an extreme close up shot of a wire of some sort powering up a machine that is really powerful. At 3 minutes and 31 seconds (3:31) we can see a high angle shot which makes the human look insignificant and small compared to the machine, it makes the signal look more powerful. 2)  Camera Angles: The over the shoulder shot places the audience in the position of a participant or observer. Over the shoulder shots can serve as a character's point of view, this also allows the audience to see what the character is seeing; this added realism. 3)  Mise-en-scene: The setting during while making the signal shows the audience that the props used are supposed to be futuristic and alien, this helps create the otherworldly and immersive atmosphere in the show. This can intimidate the audience in a

Blog feedback and learner response Full Name Blog set up and URL provided Introductory 10 Qs Fruit bowl Denotation & Connotation x2 Mise-en-scene: Stranger Things SINGH, Gurraj Ab   WWW: It’s great that your blog is set up and you’ve posted all the work so far (aside from the fruit bowl due to absence) I really like the way you are already using media language in your denotation and connotation work – things like ‘reinforces brand recognition’. The challenge now is to push that on to the next level and aim for those really top grades.   EBI: Two areas to work on: attention to detail and depth of analysis. If you look at your first 10 questions, one of your answers just stops in the middle of a sentence. Secondly, your denotation and connotation work is good but I’d like to see that analysis paragraph much longer – really explore all the different possible meanings being
