4) How big is the influencer industry according to the article?
It mentions that by the end of 2019, the influencer marketing industry was worth some $8 billion
Further on in the article, it mentions that even the Government is using them like paying Love Island stars to promote the NHS Test & Trace Service
5) What are the problems associated with being an influencer?
- Constant attention would be overwhelming for some
- Endless hours spent on photoshoots
- Sometimes changing outfits in cramped "pop-up tents"
6) Why is it suggested that audiences actually like being sold products by influencers?
As apparently 'on the grounds that the more sponsors you have, the more credibility it gives.'
7) What representation of beauty is often found on Instagram or other influencer sites?
It is often common for beauty to be altered and have unrealistic expectations/standards at times on Influencer sites such as Instagram. It is also user-generated content which essentially means people have no limits when given the ability to adjust and alter.
8) What is YOUR opinion on influencers? Are they a positive or negative influence on our society and culture? Why?
I believe that influencers can vary between positive and negative influence on our society and culture depending solely on whether the person uses their influence for the good or worse.
